A UPVC wafer check valve is a thermoplastic valve that is used to ensure fluid flow in one direction:
- Design: Made from thermoplastic, which is resistant to corrosion and lighter than metal.
- Function: The valve has an oscillating disc that opens and closes to allow fluid to pass through. When the disc is parallel to the flow, the valve is open and allows fluid to pass through. When the disc is perpendicular to the flow, the valve is closed and stops the fluid from flowing.
- Mounting: Can be mounted in either a vertical or horizontal position.
- Pressure: Requires a minimum back pressure to seal and a cracking pressure to open.
- Applications: Used in situations where flow isn't a concern, such as in water treatment plants to prevent treated water from flowing back into the untreated water reservoir.
